Spain’s possession of pride Calpe is a paradise for tourists. A part of the Valencia province, Calpe is a popular coastal town. The town is very well connected by road. It can also be reached by ferry boats. According to historians, Calpe was a part of Gibraltar. It is also called as Mons Calpe or Rock of Gibraltar. This is because the monolithic limestone found in Calpe finds its root in Gibraltar. Calpe is known for its beautiful picturesque nature and vast beach. Tourists are of the opinion that Calpe is an ideal place for those who want to enjoy their holiday with family and friends.

Rock Ifach:

This rock which is calcareous in nature measures about 50000 meters in volume, about one kilometer long and about 332 meters in height. This is considered to be the ‘star attraction’ of Calpe. Interestingly, many rare species of fauna and flora are found on this rock. The rock is also home for many rare species of birds. Many floras are found in the foot of the rock abutting the sea. The rock has been declared as a Nature reserve. The top of the rock can be reached by foot. It is suggested that tourists should avail the service of experienced guides to climb the rock so as to reach the top. The bottom of the rock abutting the sea has coves. In fact the rock is the source of inspiration for many poets, story writers, etc. While climbing the rock, one can have a panoramic view of the Calpe city and the Mediterranean Sea from the Aula de la Naturaleza view point. During summer tourists can go round the rock in boats on such portions of the rock abutting the sea. This area is considered to be safe for swimming and for water sports like Scuba diving, etc.

Beach:

Calpe is popular for its beach. The vast beach with gold colored sand makes the entire surrounding impressive. The beauty of the surrounding is further enhanced by the Rock Ifach which just abuts the sea. The beach is also popular because of the many types of water sports facilities that are available there. Sports like beach volley ball, basket ball, etc. are also available. Of course there are many restaurants and bars where you can relish the food while you enjoy your holiday on this beautiful beach.

Queens bath, Salt flats are other places of interest in Calpe.
