Among the impressive towns of Spain is Zaragoza. The town is popular because of its position and the traditions and customs still exercised in this area. It is situated in a valley called Ebro, which carries Spain’s most watered river. The landscape of this town is breathtaking.

Founded 2000 years ago, Zaragoza town has monumental values due to the fact that Arabians, Goths, and Romans left behind their heritage. There are important Spanish baroque buildings in the city making it attractive to visitors. The economy of this town has grown largely in recent years and remains very active particularly with its international fairs.

The major sight that is most visited, especially by pilgrims, is Basilica de Nuestra Senora Del Pilar Church. Annual celebrations on every October 12th dedicated to the day of pillar leads to much visitation of the town. The church is consecrated to the Holy Virgin of Pilar. The church has a museum containing great collections of religious art.

A gothic cathedral by the name Catedral de la Seo is great piece of architectural design and dates back to the 14th century. The cathedral’s interior has five naves and lateral chapels, which show the splendid, architectural style of Mudejar. An old building, originally used as the stock exchange, still stands and acts as a monument for the Renaissance and is, currently, used for expositions.

While visiting Zaragoza, you should also consider taking a view of the Palacio de la Aljaferia; an 11th century palace built by the Moors. It is one of the few buildings holding the Moorish dynasty, Taifas. There are other palaces, which are quite interesting, such as La Audiencia, Palacio de Argillo, Palace of the Counts of Sastago, and Patio de la Infanta.

Zaragoza also has museums of great value to the history of Spain and is well worth checking out. The natural landscapes of this town are very relaxing with lots of activities that you can undertake. You can choose to enjoy a sport or just relax and enjoy the natural environment around you. The museums and monuments are great learning grounds for scholars and people who are interested in Spain’s history.

This is just one region in Spain that deserves a visit and redefinition. These destinations, ideal for holidays, are improving by the day but still preserve the treasures that define Spain.
