Huelva City is the region’s capital located in an industrial sector which houses a petro-chemical plant. It may not seem much of a tourist excitement at the first glance, but it has some hidden gems that are worthy of discovery; like the workers’ neighborhood, known as the Barrio Obrero, Tharses and Tinto wharfs, wetlands, museums and historic churches.

There are many amazing pieces of archaeological artifacts in the museums for one’s viewing pleasure. When the British bought over the Rio Tinto Mines, they built Bella Vista, a quaint little village that was very British, like a little country retreat that one would find in Britain for the miners. The village was complete with neat little lawn gardens and tennis lawns as well as a social club with a Presbyterian Church. It is very well maintained even today.
